Regency Grooming take on dogs of all ages, but specialise in starting puppies on their grooming journey.

It is critical that all dogs, but especially ones who are going to require a lifetime of hair cuts, are introduced to the process in the correct way. Young dogs can be easily scared by noisy dryers, a busy salon or just being handled in the wrong way and this can put them off for life. Fortunately at Regency Grooming, we know what we’re doing, whether your dog is young or old!

For puppies, we offer a 3 (or more) step puppy grooming introduction so they become relaxed about the process ….

……OK, well maybe not this relaxed!

1) The first step is free, and this session will include an introduction to the sounds of the grooming salon (bath, dryer & clippers), as well as a health check and groom out on the table.

2) The second step includes a bath and dry, ear clean, nail trim and trim of the hair on the face and feet and bottom as necessary and able (if applicable). Pups can start with this session if they’ve had a bath and dry using a hairdryer at home. We generally continue with these once a month until they need a full haircut – normally around 6 months old.

3) The third step will be full price, and includes all of the above plus a full groom and style

If Holly feels your dog is not ready to move from stage 2 to the full process (stage 3), more introductory sessions can be added in to ensure we only move on when your dog is ready

FAQs

As soon as your pup has settled in at home, it’s then a good time to get booked in.  Ideally you want to get a first session in around 12 weeks of age

Ideally puppies will start coming for puppy sessions at around 12 weeks of age, allowing ample time for them to get a few sessions under their belt before they need a full haircut around 6 months of age.

It’s still very worth getting some puppy sessions booked in.  It will accustom your puppy to baths and hair driers, as well has having their claws clipped and general handling and socialisation experience.
